Carol's Bum Cuff

Carol's stunning Linen Stitch skirt, knit with Galway Heather, one of GBOW's #1 faves!  Looks so tweedy in this stitch which holds its shape well.  Nice work, and there's an upcoming class for those who are interested.

Tweedy Bum Warmer

Roisin used Galway Highland Heather 100% wool for this this bum warmer or skirt, It knits up like tweed and could also be reversible.  Modelled by Amy...well, a section of Amy!

Rustic Maria

We love the style, colour and how it all comes together.  Knit on big needles, big wool and works well.  Congrats Maria!

And This Is....?

Maybe a skirt, maybe not.  This began life as 'The Ol' Doll Shawl', over the head and around the shoulders.  Idea by Patti, designed and knit by Roisin for the residents of our care homes.

Then Olga needed something to cover her 'waist down' so it's now could be a skirt as well.

Patti is working the idea through, final pattern will probably have some moss stitch or seed stitch around the bottom.  Come check it out and give us your thoughts.

Julie's Bum-Warmer

Julie modeling her bum-warmer--nice fit!--and knit with JC Brett, Rustic.  Now if we get more cold weather, she'll be fine. (But will we...?)

Sharon's Triumphant Return

This is definitely a "Yes, You Can!!" story. Sharon recently took up knitting again after a 40 year hiatus. And, boy, did she dive right back in!

This stylin' top was Sharon's choice of pattern to make the dive with (I have to think that Sharon's level of accomplishment 40 years ago was pretty good!). The yarn is Delave Superwash Filati FF, made in Italy. We love this! We did decide to change the buttons though. These are gorgeous but take over a bit, so smaller, rectangular ones were chosen. We'll show you how these look, so stay tuned. 

But Sharon kept going...this lovely tie-front cardy/wrap will be given to a lucky daughter-in-law for Christmas. It is knit with Noro Vintage. 

And finally, not content just to take up knitting again, Sharon took Marlaine's crocheted "Bum Warmer" class and clearly is a proficient and prolific crochet artist. She made her grand-daughters bum warmers with matching hats and leg warmers from Marble Chunky. Very nice! And one 200g ball is plenty for one bum warmer. 

Way to go, Sharon!

Georgina & Kate Learned to Crochet

At the risk of sounding like a geezerette, I must say how heartening it is to see young people take an active interest in knitting and crocheting. My godmother taught me to knit when I was around seven, and I never forgot how to, despite many years of not knitting at all.

So here are photos of the garments crocheted by Kate and Georgina after only two classes with Marlaine, who thoroughly enjoyed helping them along their yarn path..

This is Kate, showing off the bum warmer she crocheted for her mother. She thinks she might put a frilly scarf yarn around the bottom edge.

This is Georgina with what started out as a bum warmer but turned into a shoulder warmer.

And here they both are--two talented young yarn artists. We'll be watching them to see what they do next. You go, girls!
