We're celebrating by appreciating YOU, our wonderful customers.
Expect a surprise gift or discount with every sale on
Friday Nov 1st and Sat. Nov 2nd.

Thank you, Roisin, for opening GBOW three years ago....the yarn-loving residents of Malaspina Peninsula are darned lucky (and I expect just as grateful as I am) that you decided to embark on a retail adventure at a time in your life when many people are retired. And we are also lucky you know so much about yarn and knitting, and that you stock GBOW with such great yarns and accessories, and that you have Lynda as your sidekick, and that you provide a friendly and welcoming place to hang out. So much to be thankful for!

Sandra's Slippers

Feast your eyes on latest Sandra's creations from Knitted Felted Slipper Class.  They were felted in a front loading washing machine (if you have a very hot cycle on your front loading machine, you can likely felt).  These are...maybe...creations 3 and 4 or maybe...4 and 5. More to come. The colours are wonderful.

Baby Surprise Jacket Class is in progress, under the tutelage of BSJ expert, Lynda.
Shirley is using Viking Odin Superwash for her BSJ.

Diane is making a very manly sweater using a combination of superwash yarns.

Lynda T. is making hers from Chunky Marble, Red.  This will be a first in this colour that we've seen.  Going to be gorgeous.

Teacher's one is knit with Diamond Galway and Shepherd's Own yarn. Beautiful.

Slews of Slippers

This is from our new class offering - Knitted Felted Classic Slippers.  Nicole's first pair, wait to you see them felted...they will be gorgeous (yes, there are two).

Carola, Sydney and Sandra working seriously on their slippers, under Lynda's direction....and behaving. Mostly.

Sandra with her bag of slippersssss, she's on the slippery slipper roll!

Sandra's last and next pair pre-felting - Sandra used Galway Worsted and Wisdom poems variegated yarn.  We're looking forward to seeing these felted...well, we're looking forward to seeing them all felted.

Sydney's comfortable looking slippers taking shape, even before felting, made with Galway Worsted 100% wool.

Lynda's Galway Paint variegated yarn slippers, only a few balls of this yarn left.  Felts beautifully.

Many Beautiful Felted Slippers

The incredible Knitted Felted Slipper Class with Lynda - There are some cozy toesies in this town with all these felted slippers coming into being.  Everyone followed instructions to the absolute letter (which is a must to get these results).

Sharon's green Galway Heather and Brown soles and for her second pair,
the top is a blue/pink heather mix, Galway again. interestingly black and grey Galway used around the ankle - haven't seen this done before, looks great.
Donna's Purple and Pink -Nova 100% wool used here.  Nice and dense.  This pair will be getting a camel brown sole on them.  We like the shading that happened with these slippers. And Jenny's gorgeous Purple Galway Heather and Charcoal sole pair.  Already keeping her feet warm with a perfect fit.  Great work Jenny!
Lynda's Ella Rae pink, blue, grey mix ones with Galway Black sole.  They fit her perfectly too. Roisin think's the Ella Rae would be good for children's slippers too, maybe with a pink or blue sole.  How cute would that be?

Jeannie's Beautiful Bag

68, 69 - Lynda's Knitted Felted Handbag Class students have been busy - Jeannie's getting creative with trim.  She has knitted and felted some leaves and vine, which will be sewn on something like in this photo.  End result should be next week.  Notice how the vine wraps around the back and around the button too.

Wow!  First knitted handbag for Jeannie, but clearly not the last!  She used Galway Paint (we're nearly out of it) and Inca Touch merino and alpaca 50/50 that gives it a fluffy texture.

Hair Bandeau For Baby

This slightly out of focus photo (no, your prescription does not need to be changed) is a special order Wearable Art piece crocheted by Lynda for a very special baby.  100% mercerized cotton with a unique design and stitch.  This gorgeous baby has so-o-o much hair! We love the colours Lynda chose too.
