Fabulous colours!  This is a work in progress and nearly done. Well, you too can make one (or more) of these cute jackets. Every baby should have one!

The class starts on Wed June 20th - 11am - 1 pm $50. for 4 classes + materials. Pattern is provided - choose any yarn, any size needle.

Better get started, Christmas is coming!

Lynda has painstakingly re-written the pattern line-by-line for you to follow. (and she is a wonderfully patient teacher)

Call the store to register.

Liz's Crocheted Shawl

Lovely Lynda models the lovely crochet shawl (or is it really a poncho) made by Liz, in Noro Maiko.  Another great summer colour!

Flower Power Hat

You can tell "Empress of Hats" Lynda is having fun with this baby hat! She used "Cool Linen" (linen, viscose, cotton blend) for the hat, and Goby, a cotton acrylic, for the super-cute, shiny flowers.

Pat's Other No-Sew Hoodies

Pat is on a "No-Sew Hoodie" tear...we showed you one she's working on here, but she has made two more..

This one is her most recent hoodie (her fourth) for a baby due in August. That baby will be cozy come the rains of November, and well-dressed. I spy Funktifyed buttons! (These are available at the store).

And Elly's hoodie design has made its way to Germany with Pat's creation for a baby there. This hoodie was a great combo of predominantly black with neon colours in the honeycombs. Sadly, I can't figure out how to get a PDF picture into the blog so you will just have to believe in its stylishness--and the baby's clear pride in his new hoodie.

Pat's No-Sew Hoodie

This is another no-sew baby's hoodie, designed by Elly. Pat is making this one with Sirdar Escape DK  which  looks chunkier than the ones made with Superwash DK. Nice colours!

Susan's Scarf

Susan with her latest Noro Silk Garden scarf. The pattern came from Ravelry, and it is pointy when it's stretched out. Stylin', Susan!

Kate's No-Sew Hoodie

Kate is knitting this no-sew hoodie (made in one piece) using Elly's pattern. It is a complicated pattern, and people struggled with it in Elly's workshop. So, scroll down and see a picture of Kate.

Kate is 10 years old! Not only is she knitting this (with guidance from one of Elly's graduates) but she is helping friends to knit. Amazing! We want to be around to see what Kate is doing when she's 20.

Joan's Socks & Gloves

Stripey goodness! Look at this pair of socks and matching gloves knitted by Joan. Isn't it cute the way the fingers worked out? She used 100g of Regia Sock Yarn.

Louise's Entrelac Scarf

Louise took the entrelac knitting class at the store, and here is her pretty, in-process scarf, made with Galway Paint, 100% wool.

Bum Covers?

What are these called? Roisin said, "OK....I'm not sure what the official proper name is but you know what I mean.  The little skirts young women wear over jeans, pants, and leggings. In my day they might have been mini-skirts, but they're not called that now."
Anyway, to make a short story longer...we are offering crochet classes for spring break. Marlaine will teach you how to make your own bum cover (or for your favourite young woman).  Right now she's making the sample and we will post a picture when she's finished.  $50. for the classes, + materials purchased at the store.
Get in touch if you're interested!

Judy's Socks

Judy made these socks with Lana Grossa Sock Yarn
Meilenweit Merino, 80% Virgin Merino Wool, 20% Polyamid, (it's machine washable). Wonder if it was luck or skill that made the ankle ribbing match?

Devon's Hats

Here's Devon wearing her latest hat creation, combining Diamond Yarns Mulberry and Marino with Mohair. The design is an original by Marlaine, which has been very popular.

And Devon knitted this adorable baby's hat using Malabrigo Superwash, hand-dyed Worsted Weight...too cute for words.

Norma's Vest

How is this for a beautiful piece of work? Norma from Savary Island has been working on this for quite a while, and no wonder. That definitely is a challenging pattern, but didn't it turn out well? Amazing!

Norma used Shepherd's Own all natural yarn from the store.

It fits perfectly, and Norma says it is very warm without being bulky. Today, she chose some of Jill's buttons to finish the vest off.

Boleros

Aren't these bolero cardigans cute? Love the colours. Cathy knitted both, using Sirdar patterns and yarns. The pinky one ("Hannah's Sweater) is made using Baby Bamboo. The green one is for a small person.

(The word "bolero" gave me the "earworm" of the song Volare...must go walk the dogs to get rid of it!)

Cathy's Sweaters

This charming perfect-for-spring sweater was knitted from Sublime Soya Cotton DK.  And Cathy passed along some helpful information. She has knitted several sweaters from the Sublime pattern book (this sweater pattern is in it) and notes the patterns never seem to recommend enough balls of yarn, so was glad she always buys extra. Good to know!

This boy's cardigan was knitted from Diamond "Luxury Collection" Merino. (And doesn't that little peek at the pullover vest suggest a very nice garment? Love the colours).

Cowichan-Style Cardigan

OK - Gina's done it again!*  Another beautiful Cowichan-style cardigan. Believe it or not, the stripe at the bottom is the same colour (charcoal grey) as the stripe at the top. Lighting makes such a difference.  Gina is promising to start a new project on Monday.....check back on Friday to see her latest! Just kidding, (or not). She is a very fast knitter.

* Check here for a post from a few weeks ago for Gina's last Cowichan-style sweater project, complete with her dog Frankie sitting on it. I asked where Frankie was today--he stayed in the car, otherwise he would be sitting on this one too.

Summer Colours Cowl

No need to wait for summer flowers - They're already blooming!

This cowl made with 100% wool, Manos Artesanas "Florcitas", from Argentina. One skein 100gr, 2 hours to make*. Size 12 needles, 12 stitches and off you go!

* Two hours for Roisin (This reminds your blog curator of a couple of lines from a favourite poem, Dylan Thomas' A Child's Christmas in Wales: "And Easy Hobbi-Games for Little Engineers, complete with instructions. Oh, easy for Leonardo!")

Dale's Sweater, by Susan

UPDATE: I was close. Susan knitted this in two weeks! Amazing (especially to those of us who knit very, very slowly).
Also, I switched photos because these two show the details.

This gorgeous sweater is a top down raglan, knit all in one piece and NO sewing! Susan's art work for Dale used only 12 balls of Schafwolle (50g)100% Superwash Wool from Germany @ $6.95 sale price.  What a deal for a one-of-a-kind sweater!
You can get the pattern and yarn at the store although the yarn is discontinued. Roisin says there's probably enough in stock for 4 more sweaters and then it's ALL GONE.
Now, your blog curator has to comment that she saw this sweater being knitted over, *maybe* three weeks. Susan is fast!

There's a lot of sweater love going on in Powell River!
