Susan's Crocheted Top

Susan crocheted this beautiful top with Sirdar Snuggly Bamboo (80% wool, 20% Bamboo)  Lucky person who gets this!

Carol Can Crochet Too!

Here is another star graduate of Marlaine's Learn to Crochet class, and the Crochet A Beanie class. Carol reports "I was able to get two beanies from the beautiful yarns I used (Merino & mohair) One for my daughter and one for me." 
Carol used Malabrigo for her beanie, just as Jeannie did, but you can see the fuzzy halo that the mohair added to her gorgeous effort.

It looks great, Carol! 

Yes, Jeannie Can Crochet!

Jeannie is wearing the beanie she made yesterday -- starting it at 1pm in Marlaine's 3 hour class. And she is a recent grad of Marlaine's Learn To Crochet class. She used Malabrigo 100% Merino Superwash, and we have to say it fits perfectly and looks absolutely stunning! Definitely suits her. 

She mentioned at the yarn swap today her son thinks her beanie is pretty swell. He asked if he could have one too.

Crochet Sock

A unique style in this crochet sock. (And crochet itself is unusual for socks, isn't it?)  The yarn is Handpainted Merisock by Punta Yarns from Uruguay.  Hard to describe, it's a ' you had to feel it' yarn.  This sock is on its way to University in Northern Ontario (with its crochet-er who might need to nice, warm socks).

Liz's Crocheted Shawl

Lovely Lynda models the lovely crochet shawl (or is it really a poncho) made by Liz, in Noro Maiko.  Another great summer colour!

Liz's Hoodie Baby Shawl

Oh my, this is a gorgeous hoodie shawl. Luscious colour! Liz crocheted this with Rozetti "Always Dreams", 75% Acrylic, 25% Wool.

Pat's Scarf

Pat crocheted this scarf in Marlaine's "Learn to Crochet" class.

And here is Pat, working on her scarf.

Well, she was finished the scarf, and was working on a decorative flower.

Georgina & Kate Learned to Crochet

At the risk of sounding like a geezerette, I must say how heartening it is to see young people take an active interest in knitting and crocheting. My godmother taught me to knit when I was around seven, and I never forgot how to, despite many years of not knitting at all.

So here are photos of the garments crocheted by Kate and Georgina after only two classes with Marlaine, who thoroughly enjoyed helping them along their yarn path..

This is Kate, showing off the bum warmer she crocheted for her mother. She thinks she might put a frilly scarf yarn around the bottom edge.

This is Georgina with what started out as a bum warmer but turned into a shoulder warmer.

And here they both are--two talented young yarn artists. We'll be watching them to see what they do next. You go, girls!

Kate & Georgina Learn to Crochet

Here are Kate and Georgina, learning to crochet properly, with Marlaine in "Bum Warmer" class this afternoon.
One more class and they'll both be pros--and will have a fashion-forward garment! They are using Marble Chunky which will result in nice colour variegation.

P.S. Really nice to see young people learning and practicing yarny skills.
