All natural colours and wool, and all gorgeous!

Jacket For The Salmon

Olga is strutting her stuff!  Roisin's latest creation, and her contribution to the live auction at the Pacific Salmon Foundation dinner on October 24 (which is sold out). .  She's calling it Coast Couture Combo Jacket.  Honouring the thousands of years of Coast Salish wool workers (and salmon protectors) in this region,  the jacket is a Jude Skeers design and Roisin's own choices in wool and patterns. Very Special!

Julie's Moebius

Julie finally finished her Moebius, started last Oct with Jude Skeers. She brilliantly chose the hottest day of the year to model it. Someone is going to be wishing for cold weather soon.

Knitting Spots

Roisin's knitting corner in Australia is spreading...not just in Bob's house...(spot the beanies and the groovy entrelac vest)

... but now it has spread to Jude's house in the Blue Mountains.

Jude's Salmon

Last Friday Roisin was at Craft NSW gallery, getting a preview of Jude Skeers late May exhibit. He bought a salmon carving when he was in Powell River from Ivan Rosypskye and now he's knitted the design!
Jude said it took a lot of hard graphing to get the salmon right. It looks amazing.

Janet's EZ Jacket

This is Janet's Elizabeth Zimmermann style Jacket which she started in the class she took with Jude Skeers while he was here.

Isn't it gorgeous??  Janet is such a skilled knitter she was able to juggle her #'s and swatches and and... and turned it all into this!  Congrats Janet, it's fabulous.

Dara's Birthday Shawl

Stefanie and "The Bump" modelling/showing off Roisin's latest Jude Skeers design Circular Shawl Knit with Noro Taiyo Sock yarn.  It's a 3-way shawl!  One way, then upside down way, then head through the armhole asymmetrical way.  Gorgeous anyway!  It's a gift for Roisin's sister Dara's 65th.  Roisin owes her a party!

Jude's Web

Jude's final workshop with us (a month ago?!) was his amazing Knitted Spider Web.  It's knitted in a circle and then expanded like an origami design.

Roisin will offer a class once she's re-done it a few times to get it RIGHT.  The design expertise that went into this creation is above and beyond.

Lois's Finished Jude Jacket

From angst to joy best describes Lois's journey through Jude Skeers Jacket workshop. And....she almost gave up at one point.  We're all glad she didn't.  Her finished masterpiece is gorgeous.  
Not only did she complete this jacket but she also finished a beautiful Jude fuzzy mohair Wrap which we showed you here.

Gillian's Finished Jude Jacket

Gillian turned out a beautifully fitted and styling cotton/acrylic Jude Jacket with only minimal pain.  A few new brain cells were sparked in the process, for sure. Beautiful work Gillian.

Back To Normal

Jude Skeer's visit is winding down.  It's been an amazing couple of weeks, and there's lots more to share from this wonderful time.  So grateful to have him here.

Just letting you all know we're back to 'normal' on Tuesday with a Sockista Class  on Tuesday afternoon.

Thursday is drop-in and knit in the Loopy Lounge, and Friday 1-3 is $10 drop-in for help on Roisin's patterns (Lundie Hoodies, Texada Time Wraps, What's the Point? Ponchos). Saturdays 10-noon is Beginners Knit and $10 drop-in for other projects.

Looking forward to knitting all winter long with y'all.

The Möbius Mavens

Thursday's Möbius Class was a Very Special One for Jude because they are ALL knitting "throwers" (moving the yarn from the right hand to the needle) as opposed to Roisin's way of knitting which 'they' call hooking and which some call continental where the yarn stays in the left hand.

Not sure who wins what, but it gave us a lot of laughs.

Lois's Finished Shawl

Lois's mohairy elongated shawl gets its own post because she finished hers! Glorious and such a great colour on her too!  Congrats Lois.  First to finish - you win! Not sure what...but perhaps a Big Gold Star from teacher.

So Much To Finish!

There were a lot of shawls being knit in classes with Jude this past week. (So many great colours!) Some were elongated, mohairy ones (like Fern's we showed you yesterday) like these "in-progress". The first one is Therese's.

 The orange one is Nigel's and the pink, Alane's.

Miruh's Stranded Hat

Miruh's creative toque/beanie/hat.  We love the subtle way the design shows in these Galway Worsted colours.  Great knitting too--look at the nice decreasing on the crown.
As Jude pointed out during the hat class, these stranded designs really need to be viewed from a distance...and it is especially true of lower contrast colours.

Fern's Elongated Shawl

Fern, the amazing weaver and spinner, pretty in her pink mohair shawl, knit during Jude's class*.  She did an incredible job for a supposed 'non-knitter'.  We're not convinced, Fern. 

* I, on the other hand, a supposed knitter, only got about 3 inches on my shawl knit during the class...so slow am I! Not Fern though. 

Getting Ready

There is a Wednesday class with Jude Skeers to knit this lovely elongated wrap/shawl. 
















I'm taking it, and in preparation for it, I am sloo-owly casting on 288 stitches of a picot edge. If you've ever done this pretty easy--and pretty--cast on, you will know that for every stitch you've made, it took 7. So, yes, that is over 2000 stitches, and I am a slow knitter. But I was really slow this morning because I had "help". Casper seems to like the Debbie Bliss "Party Angel" mohair and silk yarn. 

Second Hat Class With Jude

Saturday's hats, toques, beanies class with Jude.  Loopy Loungers Jude, Laura and Hilary, knitting up a storm.
