Deirdre's Dishcloth

Deirdre has returned to knitting after many years, and wisely started at Beginner's Knit class on Saturday mornings.  This is her cotton-linen dishcloth which gave her the opportunity to practice several stitches and shapings and end up with something useful.  A great beginning....there will be more.  For Deirdre this cloth is all the more special because she knit it while her wonderful cat friend of many years was ill and suffering.  A treasure in another form.

KIP Dishcloths

The "laundry line" at the store got bumped up a notch with these designer dishcloths.  Come and check them out.  Some of them were made during World Wide Knit in Public Day, others at other times.  They certainly brighten it up.

Evening Classes!

You asked, we deliver! At long last, evening classes, with Marlaine, are happening.

Marlaine will begin weekly classes on Wednesday November 21st, from 6 pm - 7:30 pm. Participants will be making one "Spa Cloth" (aka "dishcloth") per class, similar to the ones in the photo. These squares can indeed be used as dish or spa cloths, but you can stitch them together to make a pillow cover, a throw....you decide! It is a great way to learn new stitches and patterns.
The cost is $25 per class. Or--such a deal--bring a friend and the cost is just $40 for the two of you. Please use yarn you have purchased at GBOW.

And, Marlaine says, if you want to learn how to knit, this is an excellent class to attend as she will teach the basics of knitting continental style. Did I say this was an excellent deal?

Please preregister. For more information and to get your yarn, stop by!

Dish Cloth of the Month Classes!

Do you find the thought of starting a big knitting project a bit daunting? Do you have a lot of unfinished sweaters/shawls/scarves? Well, boost your knitting confidence by taking one or more of the upcoming, brand new Monthly Dish Cloth Class.
When: starting in May, probably Monday afternoons for 2 hours (details provided in April)
Where: Loopy Lounge.
Cost: $25.00/class + materials (one ball will be enough)
Instructor: Marlaine
Please be at least a confident beginner knitter who knows how to cast on, cast off, knit and purl.

Class #1 - Lacy, "Spa" Cloth
You will learn to make an approximately 8" x 8" cloth that is too pretty to call a dish cloth and if you knit it in a colour that coordinates with your 'Spa' bathroom, then it's a Spa Cloth!  Why would you want to come to this class? 1) You'll learn some new techniques that you can carry over into your larger knitting projects.  2) It's a chance to explore and experience a pattern that you might be afraid to tackle otherwise and you'll take the pattern home with you.  3) Start with the Spa Cloth and turn it into a scarf, sweater or what have you!  4) You'll spend two hours having fun with a group of knitters who share your passion to create.

A Green Dishcloth

Roisin wrote, "And now the 'Dishcloth'  - our Blog Meister's practical application of her "Ode to the lowly Dishcloth"! It's great, soft and scrunchy.  Sublime soya/cotton blend.  Simple, easy and a gift that will always be useful. Alane is working on one now that's 100% all natural linen. Stay tuned."
[Your Blog Meister is finding the thin, untwisted linen yarn a tad fiddly. I have to be careful to catch all the strands and not leave one behind.]
