Some Excellent Hats

Not to wish a long winter upon us, but these beauties deserve some head time.
Katie showing off her crochet felted hat.  She says it's WARM!  I'll bet it is! We love the way the colours worked in this. She used Malabrigo Snowbird Worsted.

And two beautiful hats knit by beautiful Wendy. Debbie Bliss Milano for the blue one--and what a great use of local handspun by Katrina for the band! The second hat has some of our new Chicpaca mixed with a worsted weight. Love the BIG pompon too! (Giant pompoms are showing up on fashion runways right now).

And this Red Felted Hat being shown off here by Susan. Nice knitting and felting job. The pin is a great touch. There's something that says "Lady Detective" about this hat....

Carole's Colours

My, what a stretch of gray skies we've had. We need some colour so let's start with Carole's beautiful crochet afghan, using Diamond Luxury Chroma.  Her color combos always the richest--this is gorgeous.

Crocheted Baby Blanket

A crocheted baby blanket by a nameless customer using Katia Sweet Baby, 100% Acrylic, nice and soft, and easy care.  A lucky grandbaby will be swathed in this generously sized blankie.

It's A Small World

Now here's a story.

Joan (in this photo) was a schoolmate of Roisin's in Ireland eons ago.  She was visiting another schoolmate in Comox from the same class, same year.  It was a small school, possibly 12 classmates and 4 of them, Roisin, Daphne, Joan and Sandra lunched together in Powell River last Friday.

Question is where are the other 8?

Anyway, butterflies have deep meaning for Joan. She spotted this beautifully crocheted piece by Susan Bornstein and had to have it. It looks great on her,

Thanks Joan and amazing visit!

Lisa's Amazing Shawl

Trust us, the photo does not do this lovely crocheted shawl justice. Lisa used beaded silk and merino for some sections and a mixture of silk and wool for others.  So beautiful, and very warm.  Roisin said about it "Elegant I believe is the word I'm looking for!"  Great choices, as usual, Lisa!

First, Robin is building a beautiful crochet afghan with these BIG crochet squares.  Lovely choice of colours and a quickie project. We hope to see the finished afghan.

Owl Hat - Whooo?

6:  Now, who-who made this cutest owl crochet kid`s hat?  The GBOW collective memory has failed as to who-who`s wonderful handiwork this is.  I`m sure someone out there can fill us in...send Roisin an email or leave a comment and we will name names.

Happy Thanksgiving

Was the Loopy Lounge open yesterday? Perhaps not, as many of you were probably making/eating/sleeping off a turkey or turkey substitute dinner, rather than gathering around the table in the Lounge as Claire and Jeannie did the previous Sunday. Many issues are resolved on these Sunday knitting times, and I dare say you are all as thankful as I am that Roisin has made a place the yarn-y community can meet.
Vicki and Petra working on project after project last Sunday.
And the project table piled high...

You Gotta Have Friends

Last Sunday was a busy Loopy Lounge day.  Everyone here getting a head start on winter projects. What a good plan! Why don't you come on in and get something started? We'll all be happy to give you ideas and recommendations.
Vicki helped this new Sunday participant in the Loopy Lounge group. We'll see more of her and her mittens I'm sure.

Claire Has Been Very Busy

These two photos have a story. Claire loved this pattern and didn't know how to crochet but wanted to make this hat during her travels. She presented her dilemma to us - And she was leaving in a few days.  Carola to the rescue!  Carola taught Claire how to crochet AND read a pattern enough for Claire to produce this nicely fitting hat. (Carola can teach you too) Crocheted in linen/cotton by Katia called Linda.

Claire has been a busy woman!  Whipped up this poncho (oh-so-soft) using Sirdar pattern and Diamond Select Stonewash (60% cotton) yarn.  Nice tweedy effect and not too warm.  Perfect

More of Claire's work: one of Roisin's patterns, the Chantal Poncho, using Drops Sock Yarn.  The colours show beautifully, don't they?  Love it!

And Claire modeling someone else's work -  one of Carola's scrunchies. Looking good!

Dianne's No Iron Tablecloth

Dianne's masterpiece, a cotton and sock yarn circular table cover (crochet, of course).  She brought this in to show a customer how to make a crochet table cloth that does not EVER need to be ironed. Clever!
