Sonia has been outdoing herself again. Here are her exquisite felted handbags using Galway Heather by Diamond Yarns, and her own felting artwork. Her work fits right in with our theme of useable Art.  And both pieces are available at the low price of $225 each (it's Art, people!).

We love her birds, flowers and colours...so painterly.  

July Quickie Classes

Roisin will be teaching #1 - #4, and Carola, #5. 

1: The Hipster Bag - sample knit in many-multi colours but you can chose solid or one colour variegated or whatever you imagine! 

2:  Jude's Surprise Jacket -  Choose child or adult size

3:  Another Jude offering - The Circular Shawl.  Easy knit with minimum guidance, it's a popular pattern. 

4:  Chantal Shawl:  Roisin's own pattern - an easy knit but unusual pattern, and it helps to have guidance through it.

5:  Beginner's Crochet Class:  Carola will guide you through the basics.

The Start Dates are flexible at this point.

Roisin's classes: Fri July 11th, 1-3 pm, Sat July 12th, 11- 1 pm,  the next week on Tues. July 15th, 11- 1 pm....or when? All possibilities considered. Just let us know.

Carola's class:  starting Wed July 9, 1-3 pm, or Fri July 11, 11-1 pm or when? 

Knit A Hipster Bag

Coming up: A Quickie Class for the groovy Great Balls of Wool "Hipster Bag."

Roisin knit this with a variety of Ribbon yarns, cottons, nylon and acrylic mixes.

The Hipster Bag can be knit with one single colour, or one variegated yarn, or....  Endless choices and several sizes.  Definitely a fun summer project.

These Purses....Are Amazing

Sonia made this words-can't-describe gift for her Mum for Christmas.

Felted, lined and needle felted, looking like a painting masquerading as a purse....just amazing! We would love to know if Sonia's mum will use it or frame it! A one-of-a-kind, but....

This gorgeous red felted handbag by Sonia is at GBOW for sale. It is also felted, lined and totally amazing and reasonably priced for the work of art it is.  You can view it at the store...prepare to be awestruck.

Sonia's Artful Felted Handbag

Here is a truly gasp-worthy piece to honour the start of the 2013 Sunshine Coast Art Crawl! This is Sonia's gorgeous Knitted Felted Handbag with added hand-felted Art Work.  AND, the two cutest black-capped chickadees.  We are lost for words on this one.

Let us not hear anyone say that Knitting is NOT ART!!

Bill's "Man About Town" Bag

Bill's (Lynda's husband) colourful Man Bag (Bill loves bright colours)....knitted with Noro Kureyon and felted by Lynda.  You will probably get to see him around town with this.  Love the Kureyon and how it felts.  Of course, Lynda does a great job too!

Jeannie's Beautiful Bag

68, 69 - Lynda's Knitted Felted Handbag Class students have been busy - Jeannie's getting creative with trim.  She has knitted and felted some leaves and vine, which will be sewn on something like in this photo.  End result should be next week.  Notice how the vine wraps around the back and around the button too.  

Wow!  First knitted handbag for Jeannie, but clearly not the last!  She used Galway Paint (we're nearly out of it) and Inca Touch merino and alpaca 50/50 that gives it a fluffy texture.

Jeannie's Handbag-In-Progress

Jeannie's Knitted Felted Handbag, a work in progress.  The handles are done and she is moving on to the bag part. The variegated is Diamond Galway Paint.  We're running out of this yarn and it's all done when we're out of it. 

Felted Handbag Class Starting May 28

Lynda's Knitted Felted Handbag class starts Tuesday May 28th at 11 am - 1 pm.

$50. for 4 / 2 hr lessons + purchase of wool.

2 spaces available in this popular class - Lynda made this green bag for one of her recent classes....this time she is thinking of changing the shape.

Every Tuesday - 2-4 pm Sockistas  with Roisin.

Learn to knit a pair of socks on 2 circular needles, toe up.

Every Wednesday - 11-1 pm.  Beginner's Knit $10. drop-in for 2 hrs of lessons.

Learn to knit, or if you already know how, start a project, get help with your pattern etc etc with Roisin.

Finished Felted Handbags

The very latest in Knitted Felted Handbags from Lynda's last class.  Carola's is the stunning red one, using Galway Worsted, with some highlights from odds and sods and the nicely textured band in the centre is Curly Kid Mohair.

Shirley's is the interesting green one, using Galway Paint variegated and  one ball of Panache, all nylon.  Nice and bumpy and the colours work well.

And the purple one is by the Queen of Felting, Lynda.

Congrats ladies! ....both Carola and Shirley are now launched on the Knitted Felted Handbags for everyone campaign!

Felted Bag Classes

Lynda teaches the popular knitted felted handbag class, and here she is surrounded by current students and bags in various stages of completion.

And Marlaine will be teaching a class in making a crochet felted bag, if there is interest. Here is her creation, displayed on the projects wall at the store. It must be seen to be fully appreciated!

Felted Crochet Tote

Marlaine finished her Very Large Tote and is ready to teach a class if you too want a VLT. Only basic crochet skills are required to make this garden of a bag, and you can make a smaller size of course (the "garden" is felted as well...attached before felting). Get your name on a list if you are interested.

Bags-To-Be

This is what was being knitted during last Tuesday's Knitted Felted Handbag Class with Lynda.
Shirley and Carola's handbags are starting to take shape.  We'll see where they're at today.  Interesting colour choices and the mystery of how they'll felt keeps you knitting.

Small Beginnings, Big Finish

Lynda's Felted Handbag Class in session... from this teeny tiny beginning a felted handbag will grow.  Shirley has finished the handles, now on to the bag.

And Carola is starting her bag too.

Another Lynda Bag

Lynda is finishing off a handbag she started way back when.  She's now making I cord handles.  This should be very colourful and cheerful when it's finished.

Marlaine's Rosy Crocheted Tote

Marlaine has been crocheting a huge market-style bag which will be less huge after felting. And it will be very stylish--as well as practical. She will be offering a class soon to share the loveliness.  
Here's a first peek at the Crocheted Tote in progress and before felting.  There will be a total of 12 roses in three different shades when it's done.  Marlaine says this is a "suitable project for a patient confident beginner crocheter".

More On The Felted Bags

Lynda's felted bag getting an upgrade to "Special".  This is one of the patterns for the class beginning April 10, 2-4 pm.

Another bag upgraded, with a pretty button added. It makes a difference, doesn't it? The yellow stripe in the bag really zings now.

Felted Handbags

Lynda has been busy. This is the felted way down version of Lynda's Araucania, Bella, Curly Kid market bag.  It looks GOOD!  Congrats Lynda.

This is one of the styles of felted handbag on offer for the class starting next Wednesday (April 10) @ 2pm  As of a couple of days ago there were already have 4 participants, and only 2 more spaces, so call right away if you want to be in the class.

This is the other style for the class.  We have a great yellow button for this one.  And remember, we have lots of great buttons and closings for your projects.

Date Change For Handbag Class

Just an FYI...the date and time for the next class with Lynda to make your own fabulous felted handbag has changed....it will now start on Wednesday, April 10th, and run 2 - 4pm, for 4 classes.
The cost is $50 plus materials. (Such a deal)
