Marlaine's Socks
These gorgeous socks are by Marlaine that she has knit for friends (lucky friends!)
Marlaine Malabrigo-Mohair actually used Noro Sock yarn for the larger pair, and DROPS Fabel for the other pair (what fabulous self-patterning that yarn has). It would be hard to choose a favourite.

December 7 Crochet Class
Here are this past Friday's Crochet Class creations. Marlaine is teaching crochet every Friday at 1 pm, and will continue in the New Year, so you can start anytime.
These gorgeous samples are made with Malabrigo Rios, 100% Superwash Merino Wool.
I always misspell "Malabrigo" when I type it and got to wondering about the name. Here is what the company blog has to say about the name:
"'Mal abrigo' translates roughly to 'bad shelter', a curious name for a yarn company indeed.
The name comes in part from the village of Mal Abrigo in Uruguay. There are several towns of that name in South America (and other countries) but that was the one we had in mind. It is called that because it us extremely windy and back when people rode horses and needed to take shelter for the night, it was known for being a terrible place to stop.
[...] In our minds, Malabrigo is an imaginary and chilly place where the weather drives everyone inside to knit, and cozy wool sweaters, hats, and scarves are always useful!"

Fabulous Finished Gloves
Marlaine's fingerless gloves class wrapped up yesterday afternoon, and so it was "Finished Glove Day" in the Loopy Lounge. Look at these gorgeous gloves!
This is one of the pair knitted by Fil.
And this one is from the pair knitted by Dini-I-am-going-to-quit-because-I-can't-do-it. Who persevered and made something lovely.
This pair was made by Marlaine, and she added a black mohair/silk yarn to the black alpaca. Really beautiful, and so soft and warm.

Evening Classes!
You asked, we deliver! At long last, evening classes, with Marlaine, are happening.
Marlaine will begin weekly classes on Wednesday November 21st, from 6 pm - 7:30 pm. Participants will be making one "Spa Cloth" (aka "dishcloth") per class, similar to the ones in the photo. These squares can indeed be used as dish or spa cloths, but you can stitch them together to make a pillow cover, a throw....you decide! It is a great way to learn new stitches and patterns.
The cost is $25 per class. Or--such a deal--bring a friend and the cost is just $40 for the two of you. Please use yarn you have purchased at GBOW.
And, Marlaine says, if you want to learn how to knit, this is an excellent class to attend as she will teach the basics of knitting continental style. Did I say this was an excellent deal?
Please preregister. For more information and to get your yarn, stop by!

Colourful Headband
Marlaine's latest creation is a headband, made with Beragna Filati - Fiocca. A fun way to keep the ears warm while not mussing up the hair. Love the way the stripe in her hair matches the yarn--and no doubt, that was intentional!
