Some Excellent Hats

Not to wish a long winter upon us, but these beauties deserve some head time.
Katie showing off her crochet felted hat.  She says it's WARM!  I'll bet it is! We love the way the colours worked in this. She used Malabrigo Snowbird Worsted.

And two beautiful hats knit by beautiful Wendy. Debbie Bliss Milano for the blue one--and what a great use of local handspun by Katrina for the band! The second hat has some of our new Chicpaca mixed with a worsted weight. Love the BIG pompon too! (Giant pompoms are showing up on fashion runways right now).

And this Red Felted Hat being shown off here by Susan. Nice knitting and felting job. The pin is a great touch. There's something that says "Lady Detective" about this hat....

Messy Bun Hats

Our Messy Bun Hat class was a HUGE success!  A fun time and hats were completed in 2.5 hrs--done and done!  Elfrieda was trying to get out of the picture--her hat is shown 'in progress' but was completed too.  No loose ends even!

Kim's Hat

Kim has fallen in love with Malabrigo (who wouldn't?). In this hat it's Rasta.  Matches her eyes, and is a perfect fit.  Congrats Kim!

Judy's Toque

Judy's second only toque - Noro Silk Garden with a bouquet of Chicpaca by Diamond Luxury.  It's keeping her ears toasty this winter (and aren't we all a bit tired of the cold temperatures?) and looks great. Nice cowl too.

Closed Monday

It's the long weekend! A reminder that the store will be closed on Monday (and Sunday as usual) but open again on Tuesday at 11am. If the weather has you thinking about indoor activities, GBOW is open today until 4.

A hat would be a good project for the weekend.  This is Brandon's first knitting project - we're impressed!  Knit with Galway Chunky and following Roisin's directions (no pattern) he quickly knit this to his specific taste.  Looking into our crystal ball we see many brilliant projects in his future knitting life!

Maureen's Other Hat

Maureen knit this exquisite hat maybe just for herself!  We love how it shapes in every way.  She used Galway Chunky for this pattern, we have all the makings and the pattern at the store.
Roisin is anxious to knit one now too!

Maureen's Hat

Maureen's hat turned out so well!  Malabrigo with a thread of mohair, Diamond pattern we've seen used successfully many times.  Malabrigo colours worked well and mohair gives it that distinct haze, the understated contrast looks perfect too.
If you spend any time in Finland this winter, you'll be sure to see Maureen's daughter proudly wearing this creation.

A Hat By Grandma Wendy

Wendy put tons of Grandma love into this Sirdar Baby Crofter for her first granddaughter whose birth is imminent! (Although she could be here, seeing I am slow getting this posted).
Can't wait to see photos of baby wearing her 'Grandma outfit'.

The Great Balls Surfer Beanies

Roisin's son Bob wearing one of the many Great Balls Surfer Beanies being mass produced by Roisin.

And a close up shot of Bob's bean and beanie.

And the beach...

Roisin's grandson Seamus wearing his very own Great Balls Surfer Beanie.
And the back...

One more shot of granddaughter Finella in her Beanie.

Inspiration alert - Roisin and Phil off to Blue Mountains Monday a.m. (which is now I think) to visit with Jude Skeers. More photos to come.

Donna's Snarf

Donna looking great in her great looking Snarf.  Olympia by Lana Grossa yarn works well for this pattern.  Congrats Donna!

Rose's Toque

Rose's Slouch Toque fits perfectly, and it's her very first knitting hat project.  Queensland Rustic superwash yarn was used, on 4mm needles.  Love the way the colours pop in the finished tuque.
We're impressed.

Donna's Toque

This nice hat was hot off the needles when Roisin took the photo; you can tell by the end that's not sewn in yet.  This is Donna's very first slouchy toque.  A difficult knit in Stampado, superwash yarn with many strands of colour, but she DID it!  Colours and style suit her well.

Sam's Slouchy Hat

And Sam!  A new knitter--very very new knitter.  Sam decided she didn't want to waste time learning to knit on scrap yarn. She wanted to go straight to projects and she did!  First with a couple of cowls and now with her very first slouchy toque.  Love the yarn and the look and the style and a pretty head to wear it all.  It's the Olympia, Lana Grossa yarn.

Jenna's First Project

We're all impressed!  Our Saturday staffer Jenna has completed her very first knitting project, a hat knit with Diamond Luxury Superwash Aran.  We foresee great knitting 'stuff' to come.  For sure all this year's Christmas gifts.  Jenna is our proof that young people ARE knitting.
