Maria's Blankie

Maria's beautiful baby blanket.  Ella Rae Chunky superwash, so nice and squishy.  Baby will love it...we all do and it's great choice of pattern.  Congrats (again!) Maria.

Laura's Baby Blanket

This is a close-up of Laura's lovely Malabrigo Rios baby blanket. It's another GBOW fave baby blanket pattern!  The stitch is called 'Mock HoneyComb' and Laura reports that it was 'easy'. And it looks great.

The Grandbaby Blankets

This blanket-in-progress is for a grandson just born, James (is that right?). Donna has been putting tons of love into the knitting of this.  We know this will be a treasure for him for years to come.  Love the strong colour choices and the dramatic stripes.  Knit with Uptown Yarns Acrylic Yeah!! Donna!!  We're all as pleased as she is!

And another grandbaby blanket-in-progress for Miruh's grandchild-to-be already being loved and swaddled with soft sweet yarn.  This is Fine Merino Superwash DK--lovely yarn and a lovely pattern.

Sam's Blankie

Sam's latest HUGE undertaking.  A BIG blanket.  5 strands of yarn.  We are waiting to see more results. So far it looks and feels good.

Crocheted Baby Blanket

A crocheted baby blanket by a nameless customer using Katia Sweet Baby, 100% Acrylic, nice and soft, and easy care.  A lucky grandbaby will be swathed in this generously sized blankie.  

Stripy Blanket

Isn't this a nice afghan? Knit with bargain yarns from GBOW.  The photo doesn't do it justice.  It's now keeping some folks cozy in Okeover Inlet--although today doesn't need cozy, does it?

Robin's Afghan

Ooooh, some beautiful colourful things to show you.
First, Robin is building a beautiful crochet afghan with these BIG crochet squares.  Lovely choice of colours and a quickie project. We hope to see the finished afghan.

We had a Cowichan Style mitt class before Christmas.  These are Gina's great looking mittens. You'll just have to trust that they feel great too.

Janet knit this really beautiful hoodie jacket with Malabrigo Rios. The photo doesn't do it justice.  

Laura's last winter project - an afghan in snuggly thick 100% wool, Lima by Diamond.  It's extra long.  We love the way the big cables show up.

Despite the arty, blurry photos you can see this is a lovely sweater, knit in Diamond Luxury Collection silky merino.  Shows the pattern off well, doesn't it? (But who knit it, Roisin? I'll update when I find out!)

Alexander's Purple Blanket Of Love

I am a first time Great Aunt (I have been a great aunt for almost three decades now). My niece had a son on January 18. His name is Alexander and here he is wrapped in his Purple Blanket of Love, the second one I have knitted. I wrote about the first one, for Caroline, in this post. 

It is a lovely pattern. The basket weave stitch gives the blanket a nice texture, and that along with the seed stitch edging keeps from boredom setting in. The pattern is at the store and the yarn is Malabrigo Rios Purple Mystery...just wonderful to knit with, and, I am sure, snuggle in.

Nan's Blanket

Nan is nearly finished her "random-intuitive" blanket.  Many yarns and stitches have happened in this very cozy piece of art.  Chunky Marble has been a constant throughout with other yarns mixed and matched.  Looks perfectly matched to us.  Congrats Nan!

Helping Hands

Dianne helping Liz, a visitor from Ireland, with her crochet project.  Liz promises to return next year to show off the massive baby blanket she will have made!

Wishing Liz contented hours and hours of crochet work and safe air travelling home.  We expect to see Liz at Loopy Lounge afternoons next year.

Carola's Baby Blanket

Carola's Baby car seat blanket, and knit like a dishcloth, from corner to corner.  Works!  One ball of Chunky Marble will do it.

Pat K's Baby Blankie

Pat K's baby blanket in our GBOW favourite baby blanket pattern, which started out as the Purple Blanket of Love by Alane.  Pat's daughter requested yellow.  This was an experiment in colour combination that turned out beautifully (it doesn't always, surprise surprise!).  Variegated sock yarn and a solid colour yarn knit together produced this perfectly sized baby blankie.  Congrats Pat!

Pat's Baby Blanket

Pat's Grand-Baby Blanket - with GBOW's favourite Baby Blanket pattern (and hasn't *that* pattern been well used since I first used it?) and in two different yarns.  One is a sock wool,  Schoeller & Stahl Fortissima Mexico , and the other yarn is Lanett baby yarn,.  Pat's daughter requested a baby blanket with yellow and it took a lot of this and thating to put these colours together.  Even then, we weren't sure how it would work out.

As you can see, it's turning out beautifully.

Gloria's Baby Hat & Blankie

A Baby Blanket and Hat, beautifully knit by Gloria in Baby Marble.  It looks very soft. We love the way the colours work for any "flavour" baby.

Babies' Blankets

Congratulations to Roisin and Phil on the recent birth of two great-grand babies! The twins came a little early but will be coming home from Lion's Gate Hospital this weekend, still under 5 lbs but thriving.
Roisin has finished the second of the twins' blankets.  This pattern (orignally brought to us by Alane and available at the store) has become the a GBOW 'fave'.  (Although it looks to Alane as if Roisin has modified it a little. What a surprise.)

Roisin's Baby Blanket

A Malabrigo Baby Blanket, using Alane's 'Purple Love' pattern. Three skeins of Malabrigo Rios were used to make a good sized blanket.  And this blanket was rather carelessly washed and even more carelessly chucked in the dryer...no problem! It survived beautifully.  Roisin knit this for one of the great-grandbaby twins expected in November.  Now she is busy on the second one.

Penny's Baby Blanket

Penny's grandbabe will be getting this perfect blanket.  Alane's favourite pattern (again) as it is easy and very attractive.  Knit with Chunky Marble and it looks like it was made especially for this pattern.

Nadine's Baby Blanket

One of our New Knitters (started beginners continental knit class in the spring with Roisin) , Nadine with her first BIG project.  A baby blanket for her friends' newborn, just-born baby.  She used Viking Odin Superwash and a Baby Blanket pattern courtesy of Alane.  It is the perfect size for a car seat or stroller--or just snuggling.  What a great job Nadine did.  She set up originally with markers but by the end she knew exactly where she was going.  And, was able to correct any mistakes and, and, and...learned a lot.

 This is a 'share the glee' photo!  We see a knitting future in the crystal ball for Nadine.  We believe there's a dishcloth in the making and then......probably socks.  She can do it!
