Getting Ready

There is a Wednesday class with Jude Skeers to knit this lovely elongated wrap/shawl.

I'm taking it, and in preparation for it, I am sloo-owly casting on 288 stitches of a picot edge. If you've ever done this pretty easy--and pretty--cast on, you will know that for every stitch you've made, it took 7. So, yes, that is over 2000 stitches, and I am a slow knitter. But I was really slow this morning because I had "help". Casper seems to like the Debbie Bliss "Party Angel" mohair and silk yarn.

Cathy's Kitty Socks

Cathy from Texada sent Roisin these photos, and the note below. This made us laugh a lot...and we forsee a trend of knitting matching socks for your cats.
"Thought I'd send a pic of my latest sox from your Drops Fabel super wash. Crazy thing is I had to rewind one ball as they were wound differently! Oh well... Thought the latter turned out quite prettily, these are for my daughter in law. Her cat Duchess has requested a pair, hmmm, a quartet? Only one done thus far.... I must be nuts. My cat Pebbles is modeling..."

I Can Haz Yarn?

Cathy from Texada sent Roisin this cute photo of her cat Pebbles, enjoying some nice yarn. Cats really like to "help" with yarn projects, don't they?

Giant Crocheted Lions

"Three giant crocheted lions are the latest artwork to be unveiled as part of the Cultural Olympiad.
Shauna Richardson was one of the 12 artists to receive around £500,000 from Arts Council England to create a piece of work to celebrate the Olympics.
David Sillito visited the 30ft (9m) lions which took 18 months to crochet with 36 miles of wool."

Neither Rain, Nor High Seas....

....will stop GBOW customers from getting more yarn! Cathy from Texada Island braved the heavy weather and made the crossing on Saturday to GBOW. She told Roisin the ferry was bouncing enough at the dock to make her afraid to step off.

She made this cute baby's cardigan and hat set from Sirdar Baby Snuggly.

Cathy also knits sweaters for dogs, but it was her cat, Captain Morgan, who got to model the finished sweaters. Here he is wearing a stripey number....something he seems to be most unimpressed by.

Sadly, Captain Morgan won't be modelling any more as he crossed the Rainbow Bridge in January.
