Shop Online

You do know you can shop for wool at GBOW online, don't you? A lot of people hours have gone into the web site so you can see the yarn (or any other item) and check out what we have in, say, "yellow" (60 items, by the way).
Most knitters like to touch their yarn but this way of shopping is perfect if you are buying yarn you are familiar with, need more for a project, need a yarn fix at 2am, or just find getting to the store hard....yarn online is way better than no yarn isn't it?

New in stock -  Drops Fabel and Drops Big Fabel (new colours in both).  And fyi, Drops Big Fabel Sock yarn is being discontinued.  Last chance,  to buy - limited amounts!

And for our local customers there is a 'hold for pick-up' option in the check out section...

Mmm, yummy Drops Big Fabel Garnstudio superwash DK.

We Do Yarn

One of GBOW's services...we are really really good at yarn matching. Here, matching up Malabrigo Rios to Galway yarn for cowls or scarves.  Great looking choices, think I'd have to do both. Well, yes!

Not Blue Brenda

Brenda is knitting with (what???) Malabrigo Rios, and it's not BLUE!  This proves knitters are totally versatile--really!

Lori's Marvellous Malabrigo Hat

Lori's fabulous Malabrigo Rios hat with a button detail (I think it's holding the tip of the hat down...very cool). The colours are wonderful and really suit her.

Have you noticed it's a Malabrigo week? Because it's such nice yarn to work with...try some if you haven't. Get some more if you have (I'm going to).

Mary's Socks

These are Mary's great red-toed sox...she's not going to want to wear shoes with this pair!  The sock yarn is Danika hand-dyed, GBOW specialty yarn--the first edition, I think.  The toes are not...they are Diamond Luxury Footloose.  A perfect combination for new sock knitter Mary.  We see many great sox in her future.

Catching Up - And Some Silk

Hello all, I am recuperating from major surgery and getting back to a bit of blogging is just the low-key sort of activity I can do (no vacuuming....what a shame). Roisin is still in Oz and has been sending photos, so that's what you'll be seeing for a bit. Imagine the flood of photos of your projects at the end of April when Roisin is back!
And look at this gorgeous yarn. Such fabulous colours. Roisin says it is silk, is all coming home with her, and will be well fondled. She thinks weavers will want to check this stash out.
I wonder if Roisin took an empty suitcase...maybe she made Phil take one!

Fifty Shades of Grey Sock Yarn

How many shades of grey are there?  A sock yarn basket at the store.  There must be lots of grey socks being knit this winter in Powell River. And why not? It's a soothing colour.

Other Duties As Required

Lovely Lynda loving her job...cuddling feltable Viking Sportsgarn. Smelling it too, perhaps!

Wind Swiftly

Jo-al making use of GBOW equipment to wind her skeins of wool into balls.  This equipment is available free of charge for customers of GBOW.  If you purchased skeins elsewhere and wish to use our equipment, it's available, for a very reasonable fee.

And Kevin Wilson, this image is for you...it's not Lego, but I bet you could make a Lego swift. And no, we don't have this swift at the store!
