Knit City - Part Three

Some details about the fabulous Knit City event. There were 50 merchants showing wares, 4 guild and information booths, 5 drop-in demonstrations and 11 classes offered over 2 days (oh, not finding the detailed links so check here and explore.). And did I mention there were a lot of people there? There were! Over 750 lovers of all things yarny which makes for a very pleasant environment. 

We were heartened and a bit surprised at how young overall the attendees were (maybe because we are not young!). Knitting, crocheting, spinning, and dye work are not on the decline, if this event is any indication. It was fun to be in a place with so much creative buzz and energy. We are already looking forward to next year's Knit City.

 Below are Alexa and Jones (Alexa is the grown up) who had their booth beside us. Alexa is Gourmet Crafter and also produces books (and patterns) under Tin Can Knits with Emily. Lovely patterns. The sweater pattern is in Pacific Knits, their most recent book. 

Across from our booth was the Ashford spinning people...in BC, I think they sell under the Harmonique Spinning Wheels and Looms name. During the event, they showed attendees how to card wild batts on drum carders, and then, if you were inclined, you could spin your batt into yarn. And best of all, they hosted a needle felting space where over 200 little felted owls were made!

Melissa, of Soulfibre Studios in Salmon Arm, BC, showed amazing felted items...Reader, I confess I bought a mask.
